Getting a clean take
Hold the microphone, or sit, a hand's width from your mouth and slightly to one side, so breath does not hit it. Record in a room with soft things in it: curtains, a sofa, a bed. Turn off fans. Then record ten seconds and listen on headphones before the real take.
