The screen-sharing picker decides what the recorder can see. Browser and operating-system rules decide which audio it can capture. A camera thumbnail does not prove that the microphone or application sound is included, so test the complete saved result.

Check picture and sound together
Use headphones when capturing application sound alongside the microphone. Speaker playback reaching the microphone can create an echo or doubled sound. If the test has that problem, change the monitoring arrangement and test again.
- Open the recorder and allow the required permissions. Choose the intended capture surface in the browser’s picker.
- If system or tab audio is offered, select it only when needed. Availability varies by capture surface, browser and operating system.
- Enable the microphone when narration is required. Choose the camera overlay position so it does not hide menus, labels or the result of an action.
- Record a test containing speech, a click and any application sound the lesson needs. Stop and download it.
- Play the saved test. Confirm the camera, screen, narration and application sound are all present as intended before recording the full walkthrough.
Make the demonstration easy to follow
Narrate what the viewer needs to notice rather than every movement of the mouse. “Choose the audio input named on your device” is more useful than “click here” when the viewer’s interface is not identical to yours. Keep the explanation tied to the visible result.
- Keep the camera overlay away from the controls the viewer needs to read.
- Leave the cursor still while explaining a concept, then move it deliberately to the next action.
- Pause briefly after a result appears so the viewer can inspect it.
- Check the export for readable labels at the intended display size.
- Watch for private information after every window switch or dialog opening.
Finish without losing the local take
Stop the recorder deliberately and wait for the result. If screen sharing ends unexpectedly, inspect whatever recording remains rather than assuming the whole session was saved.
Download before closing the tab. Check seeking and the ending in the saved file, then copy it to your normal backup location. A browser-generated download is not a managed recording archive.
If a long demonstration becomes hard to review, record it in logical sections. That gives you clearer retakes and reduces the amount lost if a browser or device fails. Keep the source sections until the joined or edited final video has been approved.
Questions about this workflow
Why is application sound missing?
The chosen capture surface or browser may not offer it, or it was not selected in the picker. Verify with a short saved test.
Why do I hear an echo?
Speaker playback may also be entering the microphone. Use headphones and review another test.
Is the recording uploaded automatically?
The free recorder produces a local result. Save it before closing the tab; a cloud backup is a separate action.
Recorded it? Send the raw take.
Studio cuts the retakes, ums and long pauses, adds captions and hands back the finished video and the clips.
