    Getting a good result

    Keeping the shape

Every mode keeps the picture's proportions, so nothing is stretched. Fitting inside 1280 × 720 makes a tall photo 720 pixels high and as wide as its shape allows. Only the platform sizes can fill a frame exactly, by cropping the edges evenly, and only if you choose that.

    Small images are not enlarged

Making a 400-pixel image 1,600 pixels wide adds no detail; it spreads the same pixels thinner and looks soft. So images smaller than the size you ask for are left alone unless you tick the box to allow enlarging.

    Sizes worth knowing

    1080 × 1080 for a square post, 1080 × 1350 for a portrait post in the Instagram feed, 1080 × 1920 for Stories, Reels and Shorts, 1280 × 720 or larger for a YouTube thumbnail.

    00:40Questions

    Image resizer: common questions

    Are my images uploaded?

No. They are resized by your browser on your own device.

    Does resizing reduce quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Large reductions are done in steps, which avoids jagged edges.

    Can I resize by percentage?

Yes. 50 percent halves both sides, which makes a file about a quarter of the size.

Why were my iPhone photos refused?

They are HEIC files. Set Camera, Formats to Most Compatible on the iPhone, or share the photos as JPEG.

    Making videos, not just images?

Upload the raw recording. Studio cuts the ums, retakes and long pauses, adds captions and makes short clips. 30 free minutes, no card.
