    Getting a good result

    Which format for what

JPEG for photographs: small, and accepted everywhere. PNG for logos, screenshots and anything with sharp edges, text or a transparent background. WebP for websites: smaller than both at the same quality, with transparency, and supported by every current browser.

    Transparency and JPEG

JPEG cannot store transparent pixels. When a PNG or WebP with a see-through background becomes a JPEG, something has to go behind it. The tool fills with white unless you pick another color.

    Converting does not restore quality

Saving a JPEG as a PNG keeps the JPEG's blocky artifacts and makes the file several times larger. Convert to PNG only when a tool or a printer asks for it.

    00:40Questions

    Image converter: common questions

    Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your browser.

    Why does WebP matter?

It makes web pages load faster. But some older software and a few upload forms still refuse it, which is the usual reason to convert WebP to JPEG.

    What quality should I use?

90 percent is hard to tell from the original. 75 to 80 is a good balance for the web.

Can it convert HEIC, GIF or SVG?

Not yet. It reads PNG, JPEG and WebP.

    Making videos, not just images?

Upload the raw recording. Studio cuts the ums, retakes and long pauses, adds captions and makes short clips. 30 free minutes, no card.
