    How to blur part of a video

    Getting a good result

    Make the box bigger than the thing

    The box does not move. Play the whole clip and size the box to cover everywhere the face or object goes, with a margin. For a number plate on a parked car a tight box is fine; for a person who shifts in their seat, cover the whole area they move through.

    Blur, pixels or a box

    Blur and pixels look natural and are fine for bystanders' faces. For anything that must not be recovered, such as a password, an address or an account number, use the black box: nothing of the original remains under it.

    One area per run

    To hide two things, run the result through the tool a second time with the box on the other one.

    Can the box follow a moving face?

    No. It stays where you draw it. Cover the whole area the face passes through, or use a time range for when it is there.

    Can someone reverse the blur?

    The blur here is strong and scaled to the size of the box. For secrets such as a password or an account number, use the black box: nothing of the original picture remains under it.

    Is the rest of the picture changed?

    Only by one re-encode at a high quality setting.

    How long can the video be?

    Up to 5 minutes and 100 MB.
