Getting a good result

Tab, window or whole screen

Share a tab to show a website: it is the sharpest option and the only one that reliably captures the page's sound. Share a window to show one app without your other windows. Share the whole screen when you move between apps, and close anything private first, because notifications are recorded too.

Getting the sound

Your voice comes from the microphone. Sound from the computer itself is captured when you share a browser tab with its audio box ticked, or the whole screen on Windows. On a Mac, sharing a tab is the dependable way to get its sound.

A recording people can follow

Make the browser window smaller than your screen, around 1280 × 720, so text is large in the video. Zoom the page to 125 percent. Say what you are about to click before you click it.

00:40Questions

Screen recorder: common questions

Is there a time limit?

One take can run up to 15 minutes. The recording is held in your browser's memory until you download it.

Is my recording uploaded?

The recording is made by your browser and exists only in this tab until you download it. Nothing is sent to us.

Can I record my face as well?

Yes, with the screen recorder with webcam.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

No. Phones and tablets do not let a web page record the screen. Use the recorder built into the phone.

The tab's sound is missing. Why?

The share-audio box in the browser's dialog was not ticked, or a window was shared instead of a tab.
