Getting a good result

The first 150 characters

YouTube shows the start of the description under the title in search results. The draft opens with one sentence saying what the video is about and who it is for, and that sentence is highlighted so you can judge it on its own.

Links and chapters are never rewritten

The AI model writes only the summary and the bullet points. Your links and chapters are attached afterwards by ordinary code, character for character, and any web address the model might have produced is removed. A description cannot end up pointing somewhere you did not choose.

What goes in a description

A sentence on what the video covers, a short paragraph on what the viewer will learn, a few bullet points, the chapters, then your links. That order puts what search and viewers need first.

00:40Questions

YouTube description generator: common questions

How long can a YouTube description be?

5,000 characters. The counter under the draft shows where you are.

Does it add hashtags?

No. Add your own at the end if you use them.

Should the description repeat the title?

No. Use it for what the title has no room for: who the video is for and what they will be able to do after watching.

Turn the draft into a finished video.

Upload the raw recording. Studio cuts the ums, retakes and long pauses, adds captions and makes short clips. 30 free minutes, no card.
