    Getting a good result

    Three ways to cut

Every so many seconds suits platforms with a length limit: set 60 and a 4-minute video becomes four clips. Equal parts suits sending a big file in pieces. At the times I type suits a recording with natural sections: play the preview, note where each section ends, and type those times separated by commas.

    Precise or Fast

Precise re-encodes every clip so each one starts on the exact frame. It takes videos up to 5 minutes. Fast copies the original without re-encoding, cuts on keyframes, keeps full quality and takes videos up to 60 minutes. A Fast clip can begin a moment before the time you gave.

    Clips that end mid-sentence

A split by the clock knows nothing about what is being said. If a clip must start and end on a complete thought, use the times mode and place each cut in a pause. Studio does this part for you on a full recording: it picks moments that stand on their own and returns them as captioned vertical clips.

    00:40Questions

    Video splitter: common questions

How many clips can I make at once?

Up to 20. If your settings would make more, choose a longer clip length or fewer parts.

What happens to the leftover at the end?

It becomes the last clip. A 12-second video split every 5 seconds gives clips of 5, 5 and 2 seconds.

How do I type the times?

As minutes and seconds (1:30), with tenths if you need them (1:30.5), or as plain seconds (90). Separate them with commas or spaces. Times outside the video are ignored.

    Are the clips renamed?

Yes. A file called interview.mp4 comes back as interview-part-01.mp4, interview-part-02.mp4 and so on, so they sort in order.

Editing a talk, a podcast or an interview?

Upload the raw recording. Studio cuts the ums, retakes and long pauses, adds captions and makes short clips. 30 free minutes, no card.
