    Getting a good result

    Resizing is not cropping

Resizing keeps the whole picture and fits it inside a new frame. When the shapes differ, something has to fill the leftover space: that is the bars or the blurred background. Cropping keeps the frame full and throws away the edges. To choose which part of the picture stays, use the video cropper, where you drag the frame yourself.

    Which fill to choose

A landscape video inside a vertical frame fills only about a third of the screen. Blurred background hides that with a soft, enlarged copy of the same picture, which is the usual look on Reels and Shorts. Bars are cleaner for screen recordings and slides. Fill and cut the edges uses the whole screen but loses the sides, so check that faces and text survive.

    Sizes the platforms expect

Vertical video for Reels, Shorts and TikTok is 1080 × 1920 (9:16). The Instagram feed shows 1080 × 1350 (4:5) taller than a square. YouTube's standard player is 16:9. This tool never invents detail: a 720p video placed in a 1080p frame is scaled up and will look softer than footage shot at 1080p.

    00:40Questions

    Video resizer: common questions

    Will resizing stretch my video?

Not unless you choose Stretch to fit. Every other option keeps the picture's own proportions.

    Can I make a 4K video?

The largest side this tool makes is 1920 pixels. That covers every social platform's standard upload.

Does it make the file smaller?

Only if the new frame is smaller than the old one. To target a file size, use the video compressor.

How long can the video be?

Up to 5 minutes and 100 MB, because the whole picture is re-encoded. Trim a longer recording first.

Editing a talk, a podcast or an interview?

Upload the raw recording. Studio cuts the ums, retakes and long pauses, adds captions and makes short clips. 30 free minutes, no card.
